Installing OPE on UNIX
Follow these instructions to install OPE on UNIX platforms. Once you have installed OPE, follow the configuration instructions in Configuring OPE on UNIX before using it.
See Required Disk Space for information on how much disk space you will need.
During the installation process, you are asked to specify where you want to install OPE. You can choose the default location, which varies by platform (see Installation Location for a list), or you can indicate an alternate location. In either case, if the location you specify does not exist, OPE creates it for you.
Beginning the Installation process
In these instructions, the command-line prompt is denoted with the > symbol, and sample user input is in bold.
- Log in as root on the installation machine.
- Restore the product image onto the installation machine. If you are installing the software from CDROM, you must mount it first:
> mount /cdrom > cd /cdrom
- Start the installation by using the opesetup installation and configuration utility:
> ./opesetup installSpecify where OPE should be installed
- Specify the path where OPE should be installed. The utility indicates the default installation location for your particular platform. If the location you specify does not exist, you are asked to confirm whether it should be created for you:
At this point you can choose to abort the installation. Otherwise the product image is installed in the location you specified:Please specify where the OPE software will be installed.

Proceed to the configuration step
OPE must now be configured before it can be used. You can continue into the configuration step by entering yes at the prompt. If you enter no, you must remember to configure OPE later. See Configuring OPE on UNIX.
