OPE Installation and Configuration Guide

Installing OPE on UNIX

Follow these instructions to install OPE on UNIX platforms. Once you have installed OPE, follow the configuration instructions in Configuring OPE on UNIX before using it.

See Required Disk Space for information on how much disk space you will need.

During the installation process, you are asked to specify where you want to install OPE. You can choose the default location, which varies by platform (see Installation Location for a list), or you can indicate an alternate location. In either case, if the location you specify does not exist, OPE creates it for you.

Beginning the Installation process

In these instructions, the command-line prompt is denoted with the > symbol, and sample user input is in bold.

  1. Log in as root on the installation machine.

  2. Restore the product image onto the installation machine. If you are installing the software from CDROM, you must mount it first:

	> mount /cdrom
	> cd /cdrom
  1. Start the installation by using the opesetup installation and configuration utility:

	 > ./opesetup install

If you see the following message you have completed the installation:

Do you want to continue with the OPE configuration? [yes]
Proceed to the configuration step

OPE must now be configured before it can be used. You can continue into the configuration step by entering yes at the prompt. If you enter no, you must remember to configure OPE later. See Configuring OPE on UNIX.
