How to Report Problems
If you have a problem installing or using OPE, gather all relevant information and contact your designated Support Contact.
Before calling support
It is helpful to have the following information ready:
- The text of any reported errors or warnings
- The version of ObjectStore and OPE being used
If you have problems with your application while creating a trace file, also provide
- Program sources, makefiles, and scripts
- Environment variables in effect when the application was executed
- Trace file, if any
Analyzer
If you have problems while using the OPE Analyzer, provide
- The trace file
- A description of the commands and user actions that provoke the problem
Server Monitor
If you have problems while using the OPE Server Monitor, provide
- A description of the commands and user actions that provoke the problem
User interface or X Windows on UNIX
If you are experiencing problems with the user interface and/or X Windows on the UNIX platforms, provide
To obtain this information, simply run ps -ef > /tmp/ps.out (-axw on SunOS) on the host to which DISPLAY is set, and send the output file.
- Your $HOME/.xinitrc and $HOME/.Xdefaults files
- Information about the X Windows server and the Window Manager you are using
For this version of OPE, send problem reports via electronic mail with the information requested above to
ope-support@odi.comIn order to send a trace file, compress it and place it, using binary mode, on the Object Design FTP server (ftp.odi.com) in the /incoming/ope directory. Log in to the server under the account odiftp; the password changes monthly and you can obtain it from the support hotline.
