New Features and Enhancements in This Release
This chapter gives you an overview of the new features and enhancements of OPE Release 6.0.
New Features and Enhancements in the Analyzer
ObjectStore R6 Traces
This OPE Analyzer allows to analyze traces which are generated by applications which use ObjectStore R6 .
Clusters
The OPE Analyzer supports the new ObjectStore R6 concept of clusters. E.g. the storage scale of the PageState diagram and the Storage Counters/Ratios diagram now show a 4-level hierarchy of storage objects:: database, segment, cluster, page.
Checkpoint events
The OPE Analyzer supports checkpoint events. A checkpoint event terminates a transaction and immediately starts a new transaction. On the transaction area of the TimeLine diagram a transaction-end icon is shown per checkpoint event.
New Features and Enhancements in the Retriever
Clusters
This OPE Retriever supports the new ObjectStore R6 concept of clusters.
Checkpoint events
The OPE Retriever supports checkpoint events.
Sessions
The OPE Retriever supports sessions. For each session within the traced application a tracefile of the form file_name.pid#.sid# is created. pid# is the process identification number and sid# is a session ID.
Compatibility
The following list shows you where OPE Release 6.0 does not conform with OPE Release 1.5:
- With OPE Release 6.0 you can format and display trace files that are created with a Retriever of ObjectStore R4, R5 or R6.
- Performance databases created with OPE Release 1.0 or 1.5 cannot be displayed with OPE Release 6.0. You must reformat the corresponding trace files.
